What is NIST CSF?

The American cyber risk management framework — flexible and proven

NIST CSF (Cybersecurity Framework) is a voluntary framework developed by the American NIST for managing cyber risks. Version 2.0 (2024) adds the Govern function and expands the scope.

The framework is built from 6 core functions: Govern, Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover — and provides a common language for managing cyber risks across the organization.

In Israel, NIST CSF is not legally mandatory, but is adopted in practice by many companies — especially those working with American clients or government — and influences Bank of Israel and National Cyber Directorate guidelines.
