What is ISO 22301?

When everything stops – your organization keeps running

ISO 22301 is the international standard for business continuity management (BCMS – Business Continuity Management System). It defines how an organization identifies threats, plans for recovery and proves it can continue to deliver services even during a disaster.

The standard covers 3 levels: prevention (reducing the likelihood of an event), preparedness (being ready before something happens) and recovery (restoring operations as quickly as possible when an event does occur).

A certified organization proves to its clients, regulators and partners – that it won't stop due to a failure, attack, natural disaster or any other unexpected event.

Threat identification (BIA)

Business Impact Analysis – which processes are critical and what does their disruption cost.

Continuity plan (BCP)

Detailed procedures for maintaining minimal activity during an event.

Recovery plan (DRP)

Rapid restoration of systems and infrastructure after a disruptive event.

Exercises & testing

Periodic exercises that prove the plan works – not just on paper.
